Comparison of Managing Fibromyalgia Syndrome by Integrated Siddha Manual Therapy and Energy Sessions with Exercises to Exercise Alone in Women: A Randomized Controlled Trial
This study is a comparative study of patients who came to Chakrasiddh with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), a condition that causes ongoing pain, tiredness, sleep problems, and reduced quality of life. It is characterized by shifting pain in whole body which affects day to day works and daily activities of the patients affecting their quality of life. Two groups of patients were compared—one group did only exercises, while the other group received Siddha therapy (manual Varmam and Thokkanam, plus energy sessions) along with the same exercises.
After 6 weeks, both groups reported some relief in pain, fatigue, and sleep issues, but the group that received Siddha therapy with exercises showed much better results. They experienced greater pain reduction, improved sleep, less fatigue, and felt healthier overall with a better quality of life. The intensity of pain occurrences and the duration reduced. The patients were able to perform exercises with ease, took long walks and work in kitchen or at workstations. The study clearly shows that Siddha therapy and exercises clubbed together can be more effective than exercise alone for managing fibromyalgia symptoms.
